'' Photographers deal in things which are continually vanishing and when they have vanished there is no contrivance on earth which can make them come back again''.

Sistine Chapel

Added: 19/03/2010

I don’t think there is anybody in his world who hasn’t at least once in their lifetime seen the Sistine Chanel fresco, whether in reality or just on postcards or calendars. The decorations depict biblical scenes created by the greatest artists of Renaissance, such as Michael Angelo, Bermini or Sandro Botticelli.

I was personally surprised by the huge size of the Chapel, and the number as well as the color richness of those works of art. Most of all, however, I was surprised by the specific atmosphere, interrupted by complete silence and noise in turn.

The Vatican officials were telling the large crowds of visitors to keep silence, shouting out Silencio Sacro. And there was silence, not for long though. After a few seconds of quietness and concentration, barely audible whispers started getting louder and louder. I think it was the acoustics of this place that was making the noise pretty loud.

New technologies now allow wider population to admire such architectural wonders as the Sistine Chapel.

If you haven’t yet had the opportunity to visit Rome and enjoy the eye with the marvelous frescos, right here, right now you may have the chance. I invite you to take the unique virtual tour in the Chapel.
